One reason why we want to keep our teeth white and clean is that they speak loudly about our overall hygiene. But due to normal wear and tear and/or an unhealthy lifestyle, many people suffer from teeth discoloration.

Teeth discoloration may range from yellowish to even stained teeth which are easily noticeable and may affect the attractiveness of your smile. To prevent this, here are a number of tips you could do to keep your teeth white and clean.

Visit your dentist regularly

As number one on the list, having regular visits to the dentist for thorough cleaning is one of the best things you could do for your teeth. Regular brushing may not be enough as stains may build up as time goes by.

Brush your teeth regularly and properly

Although most of us brush our teeth at least twice a day, we may not be doing it properly. Make sure that you brush both sides (inner) of your teeth and not just focus on the outer side. Flossing is also extremely important.

Coffee = Stained Teeth

Drinks such as tea, coffee, and wine are famous for easily staining the teeth. Sweets and sticky foods are also big contributors to the gunky stains left on your pearly whites.

Over the Counter Tooth Whiteners?

Over the counter bleaches and teeth whitening products may not be suitable for some teeth and may instead cause damage if you are sensitive to them.

Get Your Calcium

Calcium strengthens the teeth making it more resistant to cavities and tooth decay. Drink your milk, eat your yogurt or however you like... make sure you take care of the your teeth with a vital nutrient such as calcium.

Don't Smoke

Notorious for causing lung related problems like CANCER (did we yell that loud enough?), smoking also stains your teeth and causes them to age rapidly.

Our teeth play a dominant role with regards to our physical appearance. But the importance of proper dental hygiene extends beyond the aesthetic benefits. Having a clean and healthy set of teeth saves you from suffering serious dental problems which may greatly affect daily functions.
