Survivor Bright Smiles
Highland Heights Dental's Complimentary Smile Makeover to a Survivor of Breast Cancer
During May in honor of Mother's Day, Highland Heights Dental will donate a smile makeover to a survivor of breast cancer. This includes veneers and/or crowns in order to restore the smile of one who has suffered from the disease. The current value given since the start of this program is $42,500.
Dr Craig Smith started this program five years ago with his mother-in-law, Kris L., who is a survivor of breast cancer since 1995. In 2007, he reconstructed her upper smile and continued with the lower the following year. She has since contracted stage 4 metastatic cancer and is currently stable though things are uncertain.
Since the makeover, she enjoys smiling and is happy with the change. A change in her smile brought hope and a new glimmer of light in her ongoing battle with cancer. For this reason, it was decided to extend this offer to others. Another reason is to raise awareness. The medication that has kept his mother-in-law healthier was discovered by research funded by the Susan B Komen Foundation. If funding helped discover that remarkable medication, someday a cure might be found before the 50 percent probability of affecting his wife and daughters.
Thank you to those who nominated a survivor or included themselves. Congratulations to Ginny for winning the makeover in 2009, Sandi for 2010, and Pascoalina for 2011. We plan on continuing our tradition of a complimentary smile makeover to a survivor of breast cancer in the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding counties.
The nomination process for 2012 has started. Please make your nominations before May 31, 2012. If you make your nomination now, we will hold it till May.
